Golden Oldies Need You!

Over 35s Training Returns in preparation for the Veteran 10s tournament at the Perth Beer Festival.

It’s back! Time to dust off the boots and blow out the cobwebs. Starting Friday 31st March, Veterans Rugby training makes it’s return to the North Inch and the Golden Eagles need you to help them in their quest for glory!

Training will start at 7pm and will involve some fitness, skills and games. These fun sessions are open to all ages & abilities from the Perthshire Rugby community, but only those over-35 can play in the 10s tournament.

Training will start at 7pm and will involve some fitness, skills, games and visits from guest coaches. The Club have been invited to 3 tournaments in the coming months so there are trophies to be won!

If you’re over 35, book your place using the Sports-Train App. If you’ve forgotten or lost your login, or already have an account but need added to the Veterans, please contact Macker who can sort it for you. If you’re new, then sign up on the Sports-Train App, the Club code is pert2438a.

It’s back! Time to dust off the boots and blow out the cobwebs. Starting this Friday 21st May, Veterans’ Fitness Touch Rugby makes it’s long-awaited return to the North Inch.

Under the most recent COVID-19 rules up to 50 players can now join in every Friday night 6:30-7:30pm.

If you’re over 35, book your place using the Sports-Train App. If you’ve forgotten or lost your login, or already have an account but need added to the Veterans, please contact Macker who can sort it for you. If you’re new, then sign up on the Sports-Train App, the Club code is pert2438a.

Join the BIG NIGHT IN

Stay at home and get involved with the Perthshire Rugby BIG NIGHT IN on Saturday 6:30pm-late. The evening’s entertainment is for all the family and not to be missed.

There are many fun rounds some to watch, some are interactive and we welcome your active participation!

The Zoom invite code will be sent to you by your Section lead. If you haven’t received it but want to join in please e-mail clubcaptain@perthshire-rfc.co.uk for the link.

It starts with Rhys Darlington for the first round of Play Your Cards Right, then the Mini Section test themselves at Wrong to be Right hosted by Aidan Watson & Georgina Adams. Up next Jeremy Wares will spare no criticism as he adjudicates the Omelette Showdown: speed, quality and consistency are the key!

Throughout the first half Mat Rae & Suzanne Rennie channel their inner Ant & Dec to host the 12 contestants over 3 heats and a final in the Masked Singer. You vote LIVE for the winner on the night! Can you guess who’s that behind the mask?

After the 9pm watershed the Iron Guts Challenge begins, a set of tasks set by Campbell Watson that would put Hercules to shame – those who have volunteered will battle it out for the title!

The evening will be punctuated with regular News bulletins from Dave Lewis and Heather with the Weather. There might be some surprises too!

Please note the event is “family friendly” until 9pm which should be just after the final of the Masked Singer. After this time content comes with a parental advisory. The watershed will be clearly announced before and when it passes by the News Desk.
The evening will be recorded for a highlights video, if you don’t wish to appear you are welcome to keep your camera off but this may affect your ability to participate fully in some rounds.

We need YOU to volunteer to take part in the evening of entertainment from across the club. There are spaces for: hosts of each round, participants (masked singers, talent show entrants, cooks, contestants) in the contests and IT wizards to help run the show. 💻🎱🏆🎵

Friday Night Veterans Fitness Touch

Every Friday night 6:30-7:30pm at the North Inch.

Perthshire has seen the return to training of most teams and now it is time for the Veterans! Following all the COVID-19 rules for rugby these fun touch rugby sessions are starting on Friday 2nd October.

Dust off your boots and join in with up to 20 players (that’s more than 6!) for the hour. To book your place please sign up on the Sports-Train App the Club code is pert2438a.
However, if you already have an account as a coach/player in another team then you do not need to sign up again. Please e-mail Macker and he will add you on to the Veterans Squad within the App.

AGM Cook Along LIVE – the Tarte Tatin REMATCH

Nearly 2 months have passed since the first Perthshire Cook Along Live, but the debate & dispute over the Tarte Tatin has not passed. In advance of the Club AGM Jeremy Wares invites all comers to take on the challenge and show their skills in the Tarte Tatin Rematch!
Log-in at 5:50pm on Thursday 30th July to take part and compete. The prizes on the evening will be:

It should only last 30 minutes. Wannabe chefs and bakers get ready, there is only one rule: it must be prepared & cooked live (not in advance)!
Ingredients:
1 packet butter
1 small bag caster sugar
1 ready roll puff pastry
Fruit of your choice or 10 apples

Can you core an apple? How well does your pastry puff? Do you have what it takes to be the undisputed Perthshire Champion of Tarte Tatins?

Awards Dinner Cook Along LIVE

There is no Dinner for the Awards Evening but fear not! Our own Michelin starred chef Jeremy Wares (& Tennent’s Club Volunteer of the Season 2018/19) is ready with an online cook along LIVE to help you get ready for the evening event.

Jeremy has planned a menu and shopping list for all those who wish to take part. The cook along will start at 4:30pm on Friday 29th May with the login code sent out at 4pm by Jeremy and updated on this webpage. It should take about 30-40 minutes.

Menu:
Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad Croutons & Parmesan.

Coq Au Vin with Mash, Carrots and Greens
~
Apple Tart Tatin with Fresh cream

List of ingredients (feeds 4 people or 1 Ryan Moon)

STARTER
Smoked salmon, baby Gem or salad leaves, 2 slices bread,
Dressing 1 tablespoon mayo, ½ Teas spoon Garlic chopped, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 table spoon Parmesan.
MAIN
4 Chicken breast, ½ onion chopped, 8 button mushrooms, 2 pieces chopped bacon, 1 glass red wine, bisto powder and water salt and pepper
2 carrots chopped, greens 1kg pealed chopped potatoes butter and milk.

You could prepare the veg in advance to save time

DESSERT – Award for the best Tatin
10 apples Granny smiths, 100 g caster sugar, 100g butter
1 sheet ready roll puff pastry.
