Perthshire Rugby Club, one of Scotland’s oldest and most respected clubs, stands at the heart of the country’s rugby heritage. With a proud tradition spanning centuries, the club embodies sportsmanship, pride, respect, and inclusion—values that run deep through every player and member.
With over 500 players, from the youngest Eaglets to a thriving women’s and girls’ section, the club has continued to grow and evolve. However, with expansion comes the need for improved facilities, ensuring the club can support its players at every level and continue to serve the wider community.
A Community’s Hope
For generations, Perthshire Rugby Club has been a place where players, young and old, have grown, learned, and thrived. The Gannochy Pavilion on the North Inch has been our home, but in October 2023, disaster struck.
Torrential rains caused devastating floods, washing over our pitches and seeping into our facilities, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Our pitches, kit, and equipment were ruined, costing the club thousands. While Bell’s Sports Centre remains closed, we refused to let this setback define us.
Through the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we launched a massive clean-up operation, determined to reopen our doors and keep our club alive.
A Chance for Renewal – But We Need Your Help
The flood was just one of many challenges we face:
Our pitches suffer from poor drainage, turning to mud in winter and rock-hard in summer, posing serious injury risks.
A single floodlit pitch limits training opportunities, affecting player development at all levels.
Our outdated changing rooms cannot properly accommodate our growing women’s and youth sections.
However, this crisis has created an opportunity. We are now negotiating a long-term lease on the Gannochy Pavilion, giving us full control of the building. This allows us to plan a transformational £1.3 million redevelopment—not just for rugby, but for the entire community.
More Than Rugby – A Home for All
Our vision extends beyond rugby. We are working with Parkrun, Volleyball, and other sports groups to create a shared, inclusive space in central Perth.
The Upgrades Will Provide:
- Eight modern, self-contained changing rooms for men, women, and juniors
- New floodlights to enable safe, year-round training for all teams
- Enhanced pitches with proper drainage, ensuring safe play in all seasons
- A revitalised clubhouse, making the pavilion a true community hub
This is not just about sport—it’s about giving our city a place to gather, train, and grow, regardless of background or ability.
Follow Our Progress
We’ve set our sights high – and every contribution brings us closer to our goal!
To keep everyone connected and motivated, we’ve created a Fundraising Thermometer proudly displayed on the wall in our clubhouse. This visual tracker will be updated regularly, allowing members, families, and the wider community to see just how far we’ve come—and how close we are to reaching our £1.3 million target.
We’ll also be sharing regular updates across our social media channels, so whether you’re at the club or following along from afar, you’ll be part of every milestone.
Your support really matters to us. Together, we’re not just raising funds—we’re building a lasting legacy for Perthshire Rugby and the whole community.
