U12 Girls play at Gala

U15’s and U16’s are Caledonia Winners

What a fantastic day at the North Inch today for the 2019 Caledonia Finals. Our U15’s had to pull everything out of the bag to beat a very determined and well disciplined Dunfermline team who contributed to what must have been the game of the day. The final score was was 45-38 to Shire and the result was secured in the last play of  game to the delight of the big home support. Well done to both teams for such a great game of Rugby.

Our U16’s then went on beat Deeside/Garioch 45-15 in the final of the Shield. Although this was not as dramatic as the U15 game, some great quality rugby was played and the boys came out as deserved winners.

A big thanks to David Small our U14 Team Manager and the U14 Coaches and parents who catered for 1300 visitors today and raised significant funds for their tour next year. Thanks also to all the Perthshire volunteers from across the club who helped make the occasion such a spectacle and showed the club in such great light to the wider Caledonia community.

Perthshire Rugby Midis Soar at End of 150th Season

Perthshire Rugby will end their 150th season scaling new heights. The Eagles’ 1stXV, sponsored by Tan International, secured National League Division 3 rugby next season after a brilliant performance at Caithness. Meanwhile, the club’s Midi Section (age 12-17) has secured the go ahead from Scottish Rugby for a coveted promotion for its teams to play in the Shogun Conference next season. The Shogun Conference is the top tier in youth club rugby in Scotland.

The club, recently voted Club of the Year in the Perth & Kinross Sports Awards, credits the dedication of their coaches, volunteers & players to their continued momentum. Midi Section Head, Eamon O’Brien, comments, “We’re an ambitious club, the success of our youth & senior sections in our 150thyear, reflects the years of hard work by our members & the standard of the product our volunteers deliver for players here at Perthshire across all age groups. I’d personally like to thank everyone for their efforts”.

Promotion has come at a great time for the Midi Section, “We will compete well at the Shogun Conference level” says O’Brien. “We are in a good place just now. We have skilled boys and girls coming through our junior ranks & with the addition of the new strength and conditioning facility forming part of our core training offer, from age 12- seniors, the future looks even more promising”.

In his assessment, Sam Parlane, Scottish Rugby’s Schools & Youth Operations Manager, remarked “Perthshire are clearly doing lots of really good work and measure up well against the development criteria set out”.

Successful community partnerships & support from local businesses have also played their part. “We’d like to extend our thanks to Tan International, to Midi Section sponsor, Binn Group and to the many fantastic businesses such as That Bar, BD Supplies & GS Group for their continued investment in our club. Having a sound financial platform enables us to focus on the rugby”.
