UPDATE: S&C Training Suspended until Restarts on Friday 2nd July 2021

Following the review this afternoon with the NHS advice and after consulting Scottish Rugby we have decided to suspend coached S&C in the Bell’s gym until Friday 2nd July. Thus sadly the sessions planned for Wednesday & Thursday are cancelled this week. The session scheduled for Friday can go ahead.

 

Notice of Positive COVID-19 Case at Perthshire Rugby 28th June 2021

Earlier today Perthshire Rugby were notified that one of our Midi players who recently attended an S&C session in the Club gym has tested positive for COVID-19.

We have been in touch directly with everyone who, through our Track & Trace system, have been identified as a possible contact of the positive case. Both Scottish Rugby and Live Active Leisure have been informed and full cooperation is being provided to NHS Test & Protect and NHS Tayside.

Following the rapid risk assessment, the PRFC gym sessions on Monday & Tuesday were cancelled as we await any decision or advice from NHS Test & Protect. As this case was related to the gym there is no risk to any of the ongoing outdoor activities so these can continue unaffected.

The Club will review the situation Tuesday afternoon to decide when the S&C can resume in the gym and take stock of whether our COVID-19 policies and risk assessments need improved.

As cases rise again locally this unfortunate event was always a possibility. The understanding, support and cooperation from the Perthshire Rugby community are greatly appreciated. It is anticipated that this will be a short-lived situation and training will resume as soon as safely possible.

PERTHSHIRE RUGBY END OF SEASON NEWS

I wish to take this opportunity to say thank you to our players, volunteers, supporters and sponsors for your contributions to Perthshire Rugby this season.  It has been a very different rugby season, however your efforts have made the season and are greatly appreciated.  The sum of each of your personal contributions continues to be what sets Perthshire Rugby apart.  Thank you.

As we have reached the end of the rugby season for this year, I would like to advise you of some changes that will take place during the summer period ready for next season.

Director of Rugby

We will say goodbye to Sam Mountain, Director of Rugby at the end of this month.  Sam has made a hugely positive impact during his time at Perthshire Rugby, and we wish to extend our thanks to him for the enthusiasm, passion and personal dedication to our club during his time with us.  We wish Sam all the very best in his new career and hope that he stays in touch and brings a team to the 7s in the future.  Sam has worked hard to enable us to move forward with renewed direction and focus, providing a range of positive ideas, strategies and deliverable tactics.  The club will continue to drive these forward to the benefit of all members.  Thank you Sam.  We are currently advertising for the Director of Rugby position.  I will share further news when available.

Head of Development

I’m pleased to announce that Eamon O’Brien will become Perthshire Rugby’s Head of Development.  This newly formed position will be central to ensuring Perthshire Rugby’s product continues to go from strength to strength, matching the club’s ambitions.  As part of his role, Eamon will be managing the Development section and rugby experience.  Eamon will be relinquishing his role as Midi Section Head and we owe a great debt of thanks to Eamon, his Coaches and Team Managers during his tenure.  Eamon has overseen the Midi Section’s reputation and product grow, evidenced by their recent promotion to the Shogun Conference where the Club now successfully competes.  This new role enables Eamon’s skills, commitment and experience to be shared more widely across the Club.  I hope you can join me in wishing Eamon every success in this key role for the club.

Mini & Midi Section Head

I am delighted to confirm that Carol Ann Rose will become the new Midi Section Head for the forthcoming season.  Carol Ann has been Mini Section Head since 2016 and during her tenure, the Mini Section has continued to grow and thrive.  Carol Ann’s passion for and commitment to Mini Rugby has facilitated a growth in volunteers, playing numbers and increased participation of girls in Mini Rugby. Carol Ann has taken the Perthshire Rugby Mini Festival to being one of the most popular and anticipated Mini events in the rugby calendar.  We are pleased to announce that Yvonne Petrie will become the new Mini Section Head.  We wish both Carol Ann & Yvonne well in their roles.

Team Manager Co-ordinator

I’m also very happy to advise you that Kirsty Baird has accepted the position of Team Manager Co-ordinator for Perthshire Rugby. Kirsty will take the skills, experience and know-how from being a successful Team Manager in the club to date to ensure that the Team Manager volunteer position is better supported throughout the rest of the club.  We are delighted that Kirsty has accepted this opportunity which further supports our organisational structure and desire to make our volunteers’ experience as positive as possible and we wish her well in her new role.
There are further appointments and plans being put in place to further enhance the operational organisation of our rugby activities for the start of the forthcoming season.  I look forward to sharing those plans with you in the next few weeks.

Perthshire Rugby scores Braeburn Whisky Sponsorship

Perthshire Rugby has scored a 2-year sponsorship deal with whisky cask investment specialists, Braeburn Whisky. Their sponsorship of Perthshire Rugby 1st XV Men and Women teams will see the Braeburn Whisky brand featuring on match strips and will provide an impactful contribution to Perthshire Rugby’s operational costs.
