Perthshire President’s Preseason Pétanque, Beer and Burgers Barbecue

Before the preseason campaign kicks off next weekend, Perthshire RFC President John McLaughlin hosted a barbecue for the Senior Section and some of their top fans.
The sun was shining and the Club enjoyed a feast at the barbecue before games of garden pétanque (dark horse Jay Pettie), silly hats (Andy Jack suits a fez) and rugby-volleyball (Kieran Ramsay was only in it to win). The Perth Beer Festival kindly donated some left over stock to quench the thirst on a scorching hot day in Scone (thankfully Dan Rae’s jeans got repurposed into shorts before he expired from the heat).
It was fantastic afternoon of food and fun enjoyed by all. Former Captain Adam Pattinson briefly escaped his new dad duties to join us and team ginger James Mair is especially thankful for the donated sunblock or he would be even more burnt. Special thanks to Eamon for organising the barbecue food and of course to John for his generosity (& tolerance) hosting – the gin punch was a favourite!
Finally, Granny G was delighted to see “her boys” getting ready for the forthcoming season and was cheered by the tales of hard work training over the summer. She is much loved by the players and Club as whole. Knowing she’ll be there to support from the touchline will give the Seniors an extra boost ahead of the 2019-20 matches in National 3 and Caledonia Midlands 3.
