Perthshire Rugby – Succession Plan Statement
Perthshire Rugby recognises that our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation. They dedicate their time, passion, and expertise to ensure the smooth functioning of our club. As we look ahead, it’s crucial to have a well-structured succession plan in place, a roadmap that guides us towards sustainable growth and continuity.
Perthshire Rugby has developed into a successful operation due to the dedication, endeavour, commitment and delivery of its volunteers & committee members. Its time for change and we are now looking to transition the next generation to take the club forward and be part of shaping ideas for the future.
Perthshire Rugby plays an invaluable part in the local community and so many lives. As a club we enthuse our players, coaches, volunteers & parents to live by our core values of Sportsmanship, Pride, Respect & Inclusion. We assist so many people on life’s journey helping them be better equipped for what lies ahead. It’s a big role and we should all feel immensely proud of what we create & produce.
Perthshire Rugby requires members/volunteers with great potential to contribute, deliver and be part of the line up for the future. We need the right team to convert all the ideas, thoughts and concepts. We require great leadership, management, organisation, communication, financial & administrative skillsets to strengthen the line up. Is this you? Can you assist? Can you be the one to make a real difference?

The Succession Recruitment document is to outline the process for filling roles within Perthshire Rugby Football Club. This process ensures transparency, fairness and efficiency in selecting qualified individuals to serve in various capacities within PRFC and the Development Trust.
Why Succession Planning Matters
- Continuity and Stability: A robust succession plan ensures that our club’s operations continue seamlessly even when key committee members transition out. It prevents disruptions and maintains stability.
- Mitigating Knowledge Gaps: When experienced volunteers step down, they take with them valuable institutional knowledge. Succession planning identifies potential successors early, allowing for knowledge transfer and minimising gaps.
- Nurturing Talent: By actively identifying and developing future leaders, we create a pipeline of skilled individuals who can step into critical roles. This approach fosters a culture of growth and development.
- Boosting Morale: Volunteers feel more secure and motivated when they know there’s a plan in place. It encourages commitment and dedication to the club’s mission/vision.
Our Approach
- Assessment: We begin by assessing our current committee structure. Who holds key positions? What skills and expertise do they bring? Where are the gaps? This evaluation informs our succession strategy.
- Talent Pool Creation: We identify potential successors—individuals who exhibit leadership qualities, commitment, and alignment with our values. This talent pool becomes our resource for future appointments.
- Transparent Communication: We communicate openly with our volunteers about succession planning. Everyone understands its importance, and we encourage self-nominations and expressions of interest.
- Training and Development: Our succession plan includes targeted training and mentorship. Aspiring leaders receive guidance and gain exposure to various aspects of club management.
- Adaptive Recruitment: When vacancies arise, we advertise widely within our community and beyond. We seek diverse perspectives and actively engage with potential candidates.
- Smooth Transitions: When a new committee member steps in, they learn about our club’s history, values, and operational nuances.
